May 13th, 2009: I have not been back to the lodge in about 2 weeks but guides Tom and Winston have been giving me updates from Bolton daily. I was shocked a few days ago when they said they launched a boat into our back bay area, now they can get to hole number 1 and Mink Creek and the main lake has some open water and large cracks. With this information, I know that it’s only a matter of days before the rest of the lake is accessible and we’ll have no problem opening on time this year!! The only problem we have right now is getting the float plane that is based in Flin Flon, Manitoba where there is almost no open water at all. We’re hoping that by the weekend things will change and we’ll get in there because we have guests going into Aswap on May 21st. One way or another, we’ll make it work!

The fuel and freight haul have been further delayed because the company who charters their big Hawker to us have been very busy with other charters and maintenance problems. We’re hoping to get the 1st Hawker with freight and fuel into Bolton this weekend.
