July 5 2012 Bolton Lake Lodge & Outposts Update

By | July 5th, 2012|2012|

July 5th, 2012:  I have a ton of pictures to load here, the fishing has been excellent over the past 10 days!!  The big Pike have just started to move into the weed patches and we've been catching them every day!  It's windy today and we've had a few showers but the temperatures have been very comfortable (in the 70's) and great for fishing.  The guides have all been commenting on the size and weight of [...]

June 11 2012 Bolton Lake Lodge & Outposts Update

By | June 11th, 2012|2012|

June 11th, 2012:  We started this morning with rain, low clouds and very cool temperatures.  The rain turned to sleet and then snow, and it continued to snow most of the morning.  The winds were howling from the North for most of the day, but they have dropped back now and we have some nice blue sky again.  Yesterday was a very busy day, we moved 68 guests, 19 of them were moved twice including the [...]

By | June 3rd, 2012|2012|

June 3rd, 2012:  We've had some really great weather over the past few days and the fishing has been fantastic!  Two really nice big fish including a 44 inch Pike and a 45 inch Pike have been caught on Bolton Lake over the past few days, along with dozens of other big Pike between 36 to 45 inches!  We've had some really good Lake Trout fishing, good numbers and a few big ones up in the [...]

May 27 2012 Bolton Lake Lodge & Outposts Update

By | May 27th, 2012|2012|

May 27th, 2012:  The first guests for the lodge arrived today to the warmest and calmest day we've had since early May!  Earlier this week we ran into what looked like a blizzard and before that it was just cold and raining!  Looks like tomorrow will be a bit nasty as well so we'll enjoy today while we can.  I told the guests who arrived today to spend as much time as they could fishing because [...]

May 23 2012 Bolton Lake Lodge & Outposts Update

By | May 23rd, 2012|2012|

March 23rd, 2012:  Tom and I attempted to drive a new quad and Polaris Ranger into Bolton but ran into nothing but bad luck. It's been the most mild winter I've ever seen and it will be a record breaking early ice out this year unless we have a really cold April. The machines are stuck out in the bush as we were picked up by ski plane after spending 2 days and a night out [...]

May 20 2012 Bolton Lake Lodge & Outposts Update

By | May 20th, 2012|2012|

May 20th, 2012:  Our first guests arrive today and it's a beautiful day!  It rained most of the day yesterday and we spent the previous day getting Aswap set up.  The new motors are on the boats, the boats are cleaned and ready with all the nets, paddles, life preservers, seats and measuring boards.  The cabin was beaten pretty badly by a bear or it could have been a bunch of bears there was so much [...]

May 14 2012 Bolton Lake Lodge & Outposts Update

By | May 14th, 2012|2012|

May 14th, 2012:  The ice is all gone from our lakes and we're almost ready to start another great season at Bolton Lake!  Our freight haul was finally finished yesterday, we had to bring in a different airplane because the one we were using had problems with his flaps and needed to leave for maintenance but I luckily happened to be in the air when our friends from Keystone Air were passing through the area.  Their [...]

May 4 2012 Bolton Lake Lodge & Outposts Update

By | May 4th, 2012|2012|

May 4th, 2012: Made it to the lodge on Wednesday with Tom and Trevor (T3) with the new airplane.  We had to fly low and through some snow showers but about 100 miles south of the lodge the skies really picked up and we landed in the sun at camp.  See the pictures below for the aerial pictures of the lodge and the ice.  I took the pictures yesterday before flying back to Winnipeg.  I haven't [...]

April 29 2012 Bolton Lake Lodge & Outposts Update

By | April 29th, 2012|2012|

April 29th, 2012: Our season is nearly upon us! I'll be heading up to the lodge in the next few days with Tom and Trevor (guide) to take our first look since October. I've been talking to friends in Island Lake and Norway House and they say that the snow is gone but the ice is still fairly solid on the lakes. There are open spots in the rivers and around shore but the main ice [...]

March 12 2012 Bolton Lake Lodge & Outposts Update

By | March 12th, 2012|2012|

March 12th, 2012:  It's warming up in Winnipeg very quickly!  By the end of this week there probably won't be any snow left in town and I might even be wearing shorts if the long range forecast is accurate.  I got out ice fishing a bit more this winter with Adam, we did well on Lake Trout and we landed a few Whitefish before the blizzard started and the fish shut down so we were happy [...]
